I'm leaving Comcast. On Friday, a Comcast technician was out at my apt complex presumably to fix someone's cable. Around 5pm my cable goes out (TV & Internet), and I figure the tech is just messing with stuff, and I go out. When I come back at 11pm, everything is still out, so I call Comcast to find out what's going on.
The first phone rep says "no problems in your area" then asks me to hold on and puts me on hold for 20 minutes. Then he hangs up. WHY?
The second phone rep says "your account is locked by that first phone rep" - you'll have to call back in 30 minutes. YEA RIGHT!
The third phone rep FINALLY schedules a technician to come out and look at my cable the very next day. THANK YOU.
The next day, the technician comes out, and within 1 minute, everything is back up. "It looks like your line got Disconnected" is all he says. I know exactly who did it: the tech that was out the day before. What the hell did he think he was doing?
Secondly, I have been having problems with iChat where the video and audio start off great, then become terrible after a minute or so. After some searching online, this is because of Comcast's wonderful new SPEEDBOOST. Setting the QoS on my router to 384kbps uplink help resolved these problems, but then I saw an ad for DSL: 6.0Mbps/512kbps for $49.95 + 1 static IP for the same price as Comcast.
So for $49.95, Comcast gives you: 1) Upload speed of 1,000kbps for the first minute, then 384kbps from then on out 2) HORRIBLE phone support that put you on infinite hold, outright lie to you, and treat you like garbage. 3) Disconnect your service for no apparent reason
Yeah, I'm switching to DSL.
