    My Other Reviews·Verizon Online DSL
    I have had dsl for years now and it was rock solid. I always got my maximum provisioned speeds and never had a problem. I noticed two days ago my speeds went form 3 down to 2.3 down. When i called technical support the answer was be glad it's that fast you are getting nearly 85%. The tech then told me my computer was faulty(it's a Linux firewall server and it's not faulty). Once i told him the issue is most assuredly not on my end i was promptly hung up on.

    That was the reason i called comcast.(formerly Adelphia in my area..read my previous review of them). Within 24 hours of my call the tech was here and had my HSI setup and rolling. I am now getting 6/1.6 solid 24/7 with powerboosts sometimes as high as 21 megabits.

    I called verizon today to cancel and they offered me a new modem FOC and free 30 days to try again. Unless the bill turns out to be something radically different than what i was promised i'm not going back to DSL(unless they want to up me to the 7.1 meg tier for the same money).

    Everything is faster and not just in terms of raw speed. Latency is much lower(not taht it was bad with verizon it's just that much better with comcast) responsiveness with vpn's is improved. We have not tried gaming yet. Will update this again in roughly 30 days for final status.

    *update Apr 21 2008* well everything is much faster. Gaming, voip, bit torrent..etc etc etc.and for the same money as VZ.
