First of all, I have been a subscriber of Verizon DSL since 2000. I always had a very stable connection, and was generally happy with the speeds that I got. Then Comcast came out with this Triple Play Package, at a price that I couldn't refuse! ($129.00 a month for 2 years for digital cable/telephone/internet, plus free Starz, and HBO for 2 years. This was saving me around $40.00 a month from my current price of these services.

I placed my order with Comcast on Jan 30th, and was given an install date of Feb 7th between 12pm and 3pm. The lady at the sales center was very pleasant, and helpful, and seemed knowledgeable, while answering all my questions.

The install day came, and the installer showed up at around 12:10pm, which I was pleasantly surprised at, I've dealt with different service people before, and they were usually either late, or didn't show at all. After he checked his work order, I told him that I already had digital cable, but was sort of disappointed at the quality of the service because of "drop outs," and a picture that would freeze at times, I figured that it may have been the wiring and had replaced the connectors and and still had the same problem. I even bought and installed an amplifier, which helped but at times I still got the "drop outs." He checked the signal coming into the house and showed me that it while it was marginal, it was acceptable. He then replaced the splitter going to three TVs, and told me to put the TV on, and go to On Demand. I got an error on the screen, and just locked up, to where it wouldn't access On Demand. Finally after about 10 minuets On Demand came on, but was working very slowly! He then checked the signal levels again, and they had dropped even lower than before! Thats when he told me that it was an outside problem, and not my wiring in the house.

He got on the phone with one of his fellow installers, and asked if he was in the area, to maybe give him a hand to install a new drop to my house. The other installer was there in about 15 minuets, and they got to work on the outside. I felt bad because the weather conditions were not the greatest, as it had snowed that morning, and we also had freezing rain, and these poor guys were working with ladders. I had visions of them telling me that they would have to come back when the weather was better, and in the meantime I was without internet, because I had canceled Verizon DSL. They worked on the drop, and about 20 minuets latter were done. I have NEVER had a better picture since I had cable, and the installer told me that the connectors on the old drop were full of water, and the cable was complete crap! He proceeded to install the phone service, using an Arris combination phone/HSI modem. He had the phone up and running in a flash, and then set up the internet. I asked if he could refrain from putting any of the install software onto my computer, because I had just formatted my hard drive recently, and didn't need it bogged down by any unneeded software. He said that he could and would do it. Everything was up and running to perfection and the total install from start to finish took maybe an hour and a half.

As far as the quality of all the services goes, I can only say that I've only had it for two days now, and so far so good. The phone service seems crystal clear and all the features that I've tried on the phone service worked well. The internet is fast, and speeds come higher than advertised. I'm not sure that it has something to do with "Power Burst" or whatever, but on different speed tests I get anywhere from 20150kbps down and 2100kbps up. I'm not to sure how accurate those speeds are, but pages and downloads are very fast. My Digital TV has NEVER been so good, and I haven't had one drop out or even a flicker on my TV. The On Demand is fast now and all the menus work "snappy"

All in all, I can say that so far I'm very pleased with everything, and was VERY pleased with the installer. I felt he went the extra mile to get my service up and running the way that it should be.

EDIT: I just did a speed test from a couple of other sites, and I average between 10-13000kbps down and 2000kbs up......this is maybe more in line of my speeds. for some reason when I go to Speakeasy.net and test from the New York server, I get astronomically high readings.

    Speeds

My speeds tend to be about the same as your's. Where I'm from I get faster speeds on the Chicago server. I tend to try 4 or 5 different sites for speed tests to see what I'm running at.
