The service is great and works as advertised. 4 rating for Technical support because I've never had to use it, except for going to the website to get settings for email. Website was well laid out so they get a above midrange for easy navigation.

Pre Sales....gets a 2 because of all the hoops my wife had to jump through to get the service going. Came from Pacbell (then SBC then AT&T) DSL. Noted a $19.95 for one year for current Comcast Customers for first 6 months with 1 year commitment, $9.95 cost to mail out "Self Install Kit" on the internet as well as One year commitment. Decided to take the plunge.

Wife gets online to order as specified above. All going well till "submit" then has to go into "chat" with someone to confirm the order. Person on chat indicates that this deal is not available in our area (odd, since it was via our zipcode when we entered it!) said she would submit a trouble ticket to find out why. We waited a week and not hearing anything, and me working a Saturday OT shift, wife gets bored and goes to local office to inquire. Person there tells her she could do $35 initally for 6 mo, $45 thereafter, suggests calling customer service due to the other issue. She goes out to the parking lot, calls 1800COMCAST, is told the same thing, internet only, but should be available, doesn't understand why it wouldn't be. Calls me and I tell her to forget it for now due to the hoops.

She goes home, still no return email from the first online attempt. Goes online and attempts to order again, gets back into chat, person in chat asks for identifying information to confirm its her (cable account in her name) says hold on a moment, order processed, should have a modem within 7 days. WHAT? But hey, we're going!

As for the service itself, got the modem in 10 days (promised 7-10 bus days, so technically 7). Hooked to main machine, registration took a few minutes, modem got info. Disconnected, cloned MAC into router, changed router info from DSL to Cable, moved modem over to where router is, secured cable, plugged in modem waited a minute and we're live and kicking. Dyndns updates and everything works as it did on DSL....but faster! Speeds excellent and usually well above 6/1.5 as promised (usually 12ish/1.7 or so without "speedboost", I take speed tests AFTER doing a download to ensure its out of that 10 minute burst).

Left DSL because phone lines in this area were old. Was perfectly willing to pay for higher speeds but modem couldn't sustain anything above 768/384 (and at times, couldn't even sustain that!) Run IP based webcams at the house and they would load slowly on remote connections, almost instant now.

I would rate them highly across the board for the month plus I've had them so far, but their customer service people need to either dig deeper in the computers, or get the proper codes added for promotions for areas served before starting the advertising. The ad we saw on TV got us thinking, then going onto the website and seeing it was available in our area clinched it (TV ad did say to check website for details and availability, seeing it on there and then being told no was a downer!). The fact it took 4 CSRs to find out that we could do it was annoying also. Maybe that can eventually increase with later interaction, but for Internet, was frustrating-especially when the 4th time it went through like it should have the first.

The service itself though, overall, is great. Only outage was when I couldn't use it anyway-our power was out. When it came back on I'm guessing maybe the local node had to 'reboot' if it was lacking power too-took about 5 minutes to get green lights, but once it did, we were back up as usual.

Now that we have it, satisfied so far! Just fun to get it going.....
