Well first off I could have gotten DSL from AT&T but they wanted a deposit and credit check, not to mention almost $100 for installation. So I called Comcast and they sent me a self install kit and gave me tech support for the install for free over the phone. They were very nice and the install was easy as pie. I received service from Comcast in January of 2005 and for the most part just stick with HSI and CDV. The cable is just too much for us.

The speed package I subscribe to for HSI is the BLAST! Tier 16/2 with powerboost

It is the fastest internet in town, probably in the state. I love it. I have rarely had a connection issue and when I did it usually was upgrades in the area by Comcast techs. I have an ARRIS telephony modem with an 8 hour battery backup for when the power goes out and it does work in harmony with my UPS on my CPU. So when the storms come rolling through and the power is out we still have internet/phone service...How cool. I guess the only negative things I can think of from Comcast are the Blast prices being so high, but with no other competition in the area but U-Verse I dont blame them for keeping prices so high. As long as the speeds stay what they are I am happy though, also they could have set prices that never change so I can actually afford the triple play and finally get cable tv, lol. If we were to get the triple play with our BLAST! HSI it would run us over $200 for the triple play!! All in all I will always stick with comcast, even if Fios comes to town i will stick with them....Bring on the 50/5 Wideband, I am so ready!!

    UPDATE:

We decided to downgrade to the performance plus tier(8/2) when they upgraded the upload speeds nationwide. Reason being, simple really, we only got Blast for the upload speed, we have no use for 16Mb download speed since we can really only achieve that speed on a couple sites, it was nice for a while but there is only so much you can download legally....So....instead of paying $84.95/month we downgraded and got a deal for a year on the performance plus for $52.95/month, that along with the CDV and our bill is down under a hundred bucks again! Hopefully they upgrade their upload speed to 5Mb in the short future cause we use that more, Thanks Comcast!!

    UPDATE:

    9/24/08

Bills got a little high so instead of just canceling the internet we decided to downgrade to the economy tier 768/384. Surfing is still nice and fast, the only problem is my girlfriends myspace with all her pictures takes a little while longer to load up but that's expected with these slower speeds. Also with all the downloading and uploading I was doing I figured it was time for some control, and I dont think I will ever be able to hit the 250GB cap with this tier, even if I let it download/upload full speed all month long. All and all I am happy with this tier, for $19.99 it beats not having internet, for all you people who just surf and IM and send emails, this is the tier for you.

    UPDATE 10/17/2008

The Economy tier was ok, at least I was able to surf, but I needed my Blast back, now we are cooking again, but no powerboost at all, 14Mb on the downstream and 1.6Mb on the upstream, tried to get a new modem cause I have an old Arris 402P and I was refused even though I am not getting powerboost with this modem. I was told that the modem has to either go out first or I have to totally cancel my phone service then request a non VOIP modem, what a joke!!

    UPDATE 10/24/2008

We got our Arris 402P replaced with a 502G and now we are cooking. Downloads with powerboost reach up to 30Mb/s, and uploads cruise with powerboost up to 8Mb/s. Can't wait for the ultra and extreme tiers
