Ordered Comcast Double Play Cable / Internet. Appointment scheduled for 5/12.

No call from Comcast to confirm appointment, at 3:00 I call to see what's up. they can't find my appointment.. they finally find it attached to an account from 4 years ago attached to an old phone number. Confirms appointment and says tech should arrive shortly. Tech arrives about 3:15 and proceeds with install. comes in looks at the location, and says he's not sure if he has an HD box, checks his van and has one. Installes the cable and I'm receiving only 3 channels, he says that is normal and everything will come up in 6 to 8 hours... hrmmmm.

He heads back to the van and comes back, no modem for internet. Calls one of his buddies who is working in the area who has a modem. Says he will be right back. Leaves and arrives back at the house about 50 minutes later. Hands me a modem, power supply, and self install kit. I sign the paper and he's out the door.

Go to install the modem, he gave me the wrong power adapter for the modem. On the phone to comcast.. I get bounced around to 4 or 5 people and eventually put on hold and dropped (this happens twice). Finally I get ahold of someone who seems to know what she is doing and speake english. She says all I have to do is go to the local Best Buy and exchange the modem the installer gave me. Now it's about 6:00. I drive 30 minutes to Best Buy, when I arrive, I'm told they can't exchange the modem, but they will be happy to sell me one for $80.00. Hell... ok, I make the purchase. Head home, install the new modem and I'm up and running.

Cable TV however is still not working. Several days later and after speaking to at least a half dozen people, I'm going to try and get them to send a tech to the house.

    Horrible experience

I've heard that modem story before, although rare. I apologize you experienced the problem. If you call into support, you probably can get some sort of credit for your experience.

    Re: ??

My service "seems" to have stabilized. I'm on my fourth HD converter box (first one I exchanged when it would not communicate, second one the tech changed out but still would not communicate after "6 to 8 hours", third one went into an endless boot cycle and I went and exchanged it). I've been seriously considering dumping cable for satellite and if any problems develop with this converter box, I'm done.

On a good note the cable internet has been great after the modem fiasco.
