Just an update, been 7 years since I reviewed them.
High speed internet and TV (non-digital) package. Lots of subtle pressures to upgrade to digital (and $360/yr more)...things like stations I watched now only available with digital.
Have an ongoing problem with losing connection. Only about 30 sec, so not real noticible on internet but obvious on TV (it is the whole package/system that glitches). Occurs randomly, usually 3 or 4 times a day. Had people here more times than I can remember, called corporate on 4 occasions. It is an external problem, also affects neighbors. Finally was told by an "outside-only" tech, that since it was intermittant I would just have to wait until it fully breaks for them to be able to fix it. Going on well over 2 years. I'm just waiting for FIOS or a deal from Verizon/Dish/DirectTV.
Hate the packages with tons of stuff that I don't want and will never use/watch to make the price look like a far better deal than it practically is, but that is just not Comcast, appears all play that game of give you "more" of everything except a reasonable price.
Never got their phone package, just wasn't willing to trust them with phone when the connection problem could never be resolved.
So I still have them, but I'm history when the right opening appears.
I've owned my own modem for years, so I'm ahead there. When they reach the point of that having to be replaced... then better deal or no better deal I'm gone

| Re: isn't this internet based review? To a degree, and true early on when the reviews first started. These days it looks like everyone is creating packages, and what you are paying varies depending on what is bundled. If my internet is $10 cheaper because I also have TV, then TV must also be considered, because for more and more of us, we can't look at just internet when making decisions on what to get or keep. There is a bigger picture, and a lot more information to gather and consider... things like how is 911 handled on the phone service? Are local stations on a dish? Can cable handle a home alarm phone hook-up? Until there is a dramatic shift, I don't see value pricing on individual components being offered. So internet connection, while important, is not complete picture for decisions. -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. Bleah | |

But your points are still valid when your opinion for Comcast services in a bundle environment concern. The ratings are internet based (the chart with percentage selections - like Connection Reliability, which doesn't have anything to do with TV or Phone in the terms that they are meant for on this site) though. | |

| said by BSD24 :I thought these reviews for providers are supposed to be based on your experience of their internet service? I'm not trying to start a fight or nothing, but..hop up off the guy!!! He talked about the internet. He talked about the "equipment", although it was his own modem. When you write the review, it asks about what "PACKAGE" was purchased!!! His happens to have TV also. This site has more than just the internet! All these FIOS ppl, talk about their tv, and hell, almost everybody reviews their service the same as this guy! I sure want to know what a company's like if I'm considering them for my $$$. And that includes>>TV & phone. It was simply un-called for to give the guy a thumbs-down, and sweat him because he mentioned the poor tv service along with the INTERNET!! | |
