I am in yet another "corporate rental," this one with Comcast cable broadband. I have no idea what it cost as it was part of the package. I have an RCA modem. The service is almost never down but speeds vary over a wide range. I gotten from about 13/2 to 2/0.9 Mbps down/up. All in all, it feels faster than the standard Roadrunner I have at home.
The variability problem appears to have been a wireless NIC chip in the laptop I was using as my primary machine and things settled down at around 12 Mbps down and 1-2 Mbps up. This is far faster than anything I can get at my permanent home in Cary, NC.
Unfortunately, the contract I was on got cancelled suddenly. Even worst than the lost of the service, the beer selection in the Richmond area is FAR superior to anything anywhere in NC.
