    My Other Reviews·AT&T Midwest
    09.05.2008

I ordered and was able to pick up modem package next day (called on a Sunday) and setup only took about an hour. Mostly reading and had to call in to get my acct setup. The disc they provided didn't work. But got through very quick to tech support and had me up and running in about 15min. Have had a solid connection and the speeds are unreal!! I was a long time customer of ATT DSL and ever since they put the UVerse in, my connection when to hell. I beard with it for about a month or so and had enough. Glad I switched and will be a long time customer of Comcast. At first I wasn't getting fast downloads, but ran a tweak test here and got that all straightened out. Now my downloads are over a meg most times. Another thing that is great about the support is you can go online and chat with a service tech and get answer to your problem in no time w/o sitting on the phone. I used it to reset my temp password. Forgot to write it down. D'OH!!!

They are in the USA ?

How did you figure out the tech support is in the USA ? Always it seemed to me they were in India, both by accents and the level (reading from a script). The only US "support" seems to be the "abuse" department.

RE: Great service and support is quick

If waiting as much as 2-1/2 hrs. for somebody to answer the phone/online support is your idea of quick, then yes, Comcast gives great service. (I can only speak for Pittsburgh area.) The field techs are generally great (though I have to wonder why they've had to be here so often!). Most are experienced and very thorough. One even confided that when they replace your equipment, such as modems, you're as likely to get a used, poorly functioning modem as a new one (that was the problem here once). But the in-house staff, when you can reach them, have been generally surly, rude, unhelpful, uninformed, and unwilling to help. They want to sign up new customers and apparently couldn't care less about existing, long-term customers. And they're only going to hurt the company by instituting this 250GB limit. Increase speed (allegedly -- read the fine print: that 12MBps "power boost" only applies to the first 10MB of a download), but reduce how much you can use it? Brilliant strategy! Guess they got a little too comfortable as the broadband monopoly around here. But now that Verizon's network is nearly complete around here, that won't be the case much longer. As soon as FIOS hits our neighborhood, Comcast is going to have to suck up a little or Verizon is likely to strip away a lot of customers.

    Only writting my experience

Sorry all. Seems that my experience was wrong?? Each time I have called them, it takes longer to get through the routing than it is to get someone to pick up. I called up Sunday night to see about swapping out modems for a newer one and heard one ring and was helped. My total call time was 5 minutes. I guess that is bad?? Then my review is totally wrong.
