Comcast is my only viable option...too far for comparable DSL from Qwest. After a few years on the residential side I moved to a business class tier. The order process was pretty painless, as was the installation.
Connection routinely performs well above the rated speed (both downstream and upstream). 8 devices on my local network (4 computers, netflix/roku, wii, xbox 360, a voip phone for my corporate office) and it's rare to see any sort of latency...even while using comcast digital voice (which uses the same circuit but a different gateway).
I've had some minor issues with Comcast tech support. One particularly frustrating problem was the contradictory information disseminated from 3-4 different Comcast techs regarding the renumbering of the LAN-side IP's on the Comcast Business Gateway. Took several calls and several hours to work through that particular issue.
My one recurring knock on Comcast is the number of outages. I lose connection a few times a month, and by lose connection I mean 10 minutes or more without sync. As a teleworker these outages tend to sting as they almost always come during the worst possible time.
Those outages aside, the circuit is pretty solid and has yet to show any sign of strain under heavy use.
