Update: Dropped to basic cable/internet with Comcast, while adding DirecTV HD for our TV requirements. Reason: more choice, and much, much more HD (in our market).
Comcast is the only game in town for us as far as cable. No competition, so they play by their rules. Service is pretty reliable now, but if you do require support, it can be frustrating (especially for the non-tech oriented) The new 250GB caps have stirred much controversy. I don't see 250GB as a problem now. But as more online content becomes available, and devices such as Xbox, PS3, etc utilizing your connection becomes more mainstream, these caps will surely need to be raised.
Overall, I have very few complaints. We have family with ATT DSL service that have only had one outage in the last 3 years compared to our countless outages a couple of years ago. But the trade off of course is their much lower speeds.

| Comcast is a ripoff service--it needs some competition Comcast is way overpriced for what I need. The problem is they have no real competition yet.
Recently, I lost MPT channel 22, because Comcast switched its analog signal to a digital. You've heard that the switch from analog to digital only affect broadcast stations? Not so. Comcast is switching analog cable channels to digital, too, and as a result you will have to pay more for what you have been watching. The $50 coupon won't work for you either.
Currently, we pay over $120 a month for cable TV and Internet. The Internet is 6mb down and about 2mb up, which is OK but not great. The email service goes out periodically.
This is a lot for the three-to-four different channels I watch, depending upon how you count. I watch WETA and MPT (1); C-SPAN, which used to be two stations (C-Span 1 and 2) but is now 1 1/2 stations (half of C-Span 2 is now sports--did the NATs lose again tonight?), and the golf channel. I haven't watched any network television is years. It's garbage.
For this I will now have to pay $5.00 extra per month for a digital box to get MPT back (but I probably won't since WETA is basically the same).
I would like to get HD service for the public television channels but that would cost $15. more per month for an HD box and another $15-$30 to buy the channels over 200 where HD is. So, basically, the total would be $50.00 more per month to be able to watch educational television stations in HD and all C-Span channels.
Too much.
A story in the paper explained the reason for these high prices. Comcast is getting squeezed on program content cost. The number of channels has increased and the content providers are charging more. so Comcast has to get the money from somewhere.
How about offering consumer choice instead. I'll pay more per channel for just the channels I want, instead of 200 digital channels, etc. Who can watch 200 channels? Comcast's costs will go down, my quality of viewing will go up, and my costs will go down.
It's Comcast's pricing policy of forcing to subscribe to zillions of channels you don't need and then having to pay content providers tons of money for all those channels.
