Switched from Fios due to inability of Verizon to get a simple bill to come out right.
Installer showed up at 9am on an 8:30 - Noon window. Did a walk-thru and scoped out what needed to be done. I had already ran a new phone line w/jack next to new modem location down to the phone interface in the basement so that the "Digital Voice" phone would work.
He installed all six assorted (2 Standard, 2 HD and 2 HD DVR) cable boxes and the new Arris cable/telephony modem and all worked.
I had to do a bit of thinking and tinkering to get my router to work with the new modem. Biggest mistake was not cloning my PC MAC address, I had cloned the Fios Actiontec to the router way back when and forgot about it. Once I changed the MAC on the router to make the modem think it was talking to my PC all was well and things could connect.
Getting 20 down and 1.5 up on average, bit slower on the upload compared to the 5, I was getting with Fios, but I hardly ever upload anything large anyway.
NOTE: I loved Fios for the product and only canceled due to the unreal disability of Verizon to get my bill correct month after month after month. I have a phone number for an account executive that I called more often than I call folks that I am related too. The hours I spend on the phone talking to them about my bill could have been better spent watching paint dry, playing with the grandkids or just sleeping. Thats time I will never get back.
Hopefully Comcast will send me a bill that is exactly the same month after month for the right amount.
