I have had Comcast at my Apartment since 2002 when I moved in at it was still ATT Broadband. I have switched back and forth from DSL to Comcast and RCN over those years. I am not your average user.
I have a complex network of Macs, voip, and iptv devices. I know I use a lot of bandwith, but with out the tool Comcast is giving us some day, I know idea how much I use in a given month.
I get more than the 12/2 speed I pay for. I am using a Motorola sv5220 modem. I have one voice line with Comcast that is used for faxing. Its the cheapest I can get that works welll for fax. I have a line with Phone Power that I use for a home phone.
I pay more since I have a local with more line and my basic internet line.
I wish that Comcast would drop the added fee for non tv subs, since this stops many from using them for internet. I am very happy with Directv for HD service and Comcast here in Boston does not have that much HD.
