    Due to the digital transition of extended basic cable service, a tech visit was requested to resolve problems with the DTAs.

    - On the first due date the tech was delayed too much and we requested reschedule, unfortunately the tech was never told and left a note on the front door at 8pm (!!!) while we were out to dinner. Duh!

    - The next date the tech never showed up during the scheduled window; after escalation and a very long wait, the dispatcher told us he was NEVER rescheduled. Duh!

    - A tech finally showed up for the third appointment. User installed splitters were replaced by higher quality Comm-Scope brand splitters and taps. Both the on site tech and the office were glad to supply us with terminated RG/6 cabling for further replacements at our convenience. Technical success!

    - Well, not completely. Picture quality is pretty soft through STB, DTA and direct clear QAM connections. Comcast - stop compressing the signal so damn much!

    - After suffering with another cableco's crappy boxes, the speed and reliability of the Motorola STB is great so far!

    - The added complication of using STBs and DTAs with Mom's VCRs is not making her happy.

    - An unforeseen effect of creating an online account was that PAPER BILLING was stopped - this was NOT requested! The online account was double checked and was confirmed to be set properly from day one. Time will tell.....

    - Side note: the Comcast web site is inexcusably Terrible for finding out what cable packages are available and for how much. OTOH the cards for Services and Channel Lineups available in the local office are highly recommended!
