I've had Comcast as my ISP for about five years now, as TV provider since well before Comcast came to town. I have the "6mbps High Speed Internet Performance Service" along with Expanded Basic Service for my TV. The $105 price includes both of those services. The ISP portion is $43. I did the modem install myself.
Up until a year or so ago, the service had been excellently reliable and fast. This past year, the reliability has been dropping and, while speed tests show good speeds for things like file transfers, web browsing speeds have slowed down very noticeably. If I had to characterize it, I would say that throughput speeds are good, but the network latency is becoming a problem. I'm not sure if the various speed tests show the latter.
My experiences with Customer Service have been poor. I have had a representative just hang up on me. I have had email Customer Support conversations just stop, waiting for a Comcast resolution that never happens. I have gotten bad and/or incorrect technical information from Customer Support. On the plus side, any time a tech has visited my house, that has always been a positive experience.
Overall, currently I would rate Comcast's ISP service as "fair". Two years ago, I would have said "very good".
(updated Apr 2, 2010 to fix a couple of typos)
Update Nov 2, 2010 --- price has increased from $105 to $116
Update Apr 2011 --- as a result of the conversion to all-digital cable TV, the price increased to a total of $135 for ISP and cable TV services.
Update Feb 2013 --- I would rate the HSI (nee ISP) service as very good. Speed and reliability are both very good.
