When I switched over from dial up, (oh yes, you remember those days) my speeds were so-so. A huge difference over dial up. Comcast revamped their entire system since year 2000 with both internet and cable, which was switching over to digital. Today my service, it's 5 mb and even with basic internet it is super fast. If I sneeze, I'll miss a page load. Big file downloads are still very fast and streaming media/TV is also great. Over the last few years, Comcast did a great job of improving service and reducing downtime. My Sony gets near HD reception, although it's not a HD TV.
