It's really hard to be enthusiastic about getting internet service from the cable company. Cable companies are inherently monopolistic and constantly seek to raise their rates many times greater than the rate of inflation. In my experiences with Comcast, they have managed to improve their service over the few years. I've ordered installation from them on 3 different occasions.

2 of them required truck rolls and tech was always on time. On the third, all they did was mail a self install kit. They don't even bother disconnecting the drop when you cancel service anymore.

The node congestion that was common during the 2000's seems to be at thing of the past. Speed tests will give about 23.5/3.5 Mbps at all hours of the day, Non powerboost speeds are 12/2 Mbps.

Now for some bad points. Comcast does occasionally go down in the wee hours of the morning for maintenance. As much as I hate frontier DSL, downtime from them only happened about twice per year. Never ever give comcast your cell phone number! They will inundate you with calls either asking you to perform a survey or to upsell you. They will not comply with Do not call! I had to block their calls on android. Although the cost of internet does not rise as fast as regular TV rates, be prepared for rate increases beyond that of inflation as comcast shifts more of the costs onto non-video subscribers as cord cutting increases. Not everyone will get reliability of service. My parents live a mile away and due to some cable plant issue, the upstream signal path gets noisy in hot weather and both Ondemand and cable internet constantly go down intermittently. Comcast so far has been unable to fix the issue.

Given a choice of spending 63 dollars/mo for 12/2 cable internet+lifeline cable from Comcast with no contract or 75-80/mo from frontier for 3/1 DSL and mandatory phone service + 2 yr contract the winner is glaring clear.
