Update 9/13/2015 Had the internet only service for 2 years now. Speeds have increased fro 50x10 to 150x10 over the past 2 years and promotions have expired so it is now costing me $79.00 month. I could "bundle" and get new promotion but in a year, I will be paying more than $79.00 once taxes and fees are included. Connection seems very reliable with only 10 minutes down time reported during the typical month. Over all: good service but a bit expensive. Also only game in town as Verizon DSL is selling 3.0x0.78 for about $50. Original Review 10/2013: Internet Service Only, no TV or Phone bundled I had to order "performance level" service over the phone since there was an existing account at this address. The online system did not like the existing account so I was forced to deal with a sales droid somewhere off shore. He over-rode the system and gave me the service once he verified that the existing service was moving and I received the online promotional rate. I informed the sales person I would be supplying my own modem, he said the tech wold arrive with a Comcast modem any way. The salesman was quite hard to understand at times as English was not his native language but I have to give him credit that he made sure I understood him. Install was scheduled for three days out and the technician showed up within the 2 hour window. Since the location had service earlier that day, the install was quick and painless; in fact the technician asked me if I was offered a self install. That was not offered during the purchase phone call unfortunately. I supplied my own Zoom Docsis 3 modem which was purchased from Amazon. Once the first bill showed up the fun began as I was being charged modem rental. When I called billing they assigned a case number and promised someone would call me back. They did and requested proof of ownership. I ended up faxing ( yes faxing! ) a copy of my Amazon receipt, the bottom of the retail box with the MAC and Serial # to the modem department. After 10 days I heard nothing so contacted Executive Relations. They were a great help and got the modem charge removed and gave me a $20.00 credit for my troubles. This process took 2-3 hours of my time. Lets hope the ownership doesn't revert to Comcast as I don't what to go through that time consuming process again. So far the connection is stable and speed seems to be close to "as advertised". When I signed up, I was told the speed would be 25x5, in fact it seems I am in an area where the performance is still 20x4. The promotion I have is for 12 months and the current price is $39.00. When the 12 months is up, I will call and see if I can get this deal, or a better one, renewed. member for 20.2 years, 10668 visits, last login: 1 day ago updated 8.5 years ago |
