    My Other Reviews·AT&T U-Verse
I've had Charter for over a year now, and have had no service outages except for when they buried my drop, the cut the line to my jack (line to the jack is run outside, it was installed after the house was built). That was fixed in a couple of days, and it's been smooth sailing otherwise.

I have 768/128 and all of my speed tests are right in that range.

And to quote Forrest Gump, That's all I've got to say about that.

    UPDATE!!!

Ok, is there a BBR jinx or what? I've never had an outage until last night, we were down from 6pm until sometime after 9:30 when I gave up. Which in and of itself, isn't a big deal, but I do have a problem with Tech Support. The recording said it would be back up in an hour, then I spoke to a gentleman in Support who said that means it might be up immediately, or it might take two hours. I work in support. If they tell me it's going to be 2 hours, I say 4. Charter needs to take a lesson in setting expectations.

Other than that, I am still very satisfied with Charter Pipeline.

    11-15-03 Update!!!

Charter is still running smooth. I got the 2MB upgrade, still paying the same price. Can't complain about that. I've had a few outages since the last one I mentioned, but nothing major. Still happy with the service. The only bad thing is they still haven't set up automatic billing that works with debit cards, and still no online account management in this area (Just across the creek from St. Louis). Hard to believe that "The Wired World" doesn't offer this yet. I know it takes a while to get set up, but they've had 2 years since buying out AT&T in this area. This is the only monthly bill that we don't have set up for auto payment, and we always forget to pay it. Hopefully they get that set up soon.

    07-01-04 Update.

Charter is still great, 3MB now, which I got after calling and having them tell me I was all set up. Hmmm, I was all set up after I called them. Either way, I'm getting really fast downloads now. Also, they finally have automatic debit now, and online account management and billing which is almost perfect. I was unable to update my card expiration date online, but other than that, it's working great. No more paper bills either, all PDF. I like that. I'm much more organized on the computer than in the dead tree world.

I'm satisfied with the Internet service. We moved in with my in-laws, and they had the 384K plan. It's a bit slow, but usable. TV is a different story. We had to have them come out and fix a wire out by the pole, which resolved an internet issue and fixed the local channels. Now the digital channels aren't working. I will admit that inside wiring might be the culprit, and I need to replace a lot of it, but it was all working fine until a month or two ago. I'm guessing that squirrels are chewing the wires again. I'll udpate once I get this resolved.

Got an offer to upgrade to 3MB, took it. That was on the 10th. I had to finally call on the 16th and the guy said that a work order had been put in, but nothing done on it. He fixed it, back to 3MB am I, very happy. Now we are having problems with VOD, but again that may be our wiring. This spring I'm going to run a new line into the house from the ground block outside (RG6) and see if that resolves it, then call a tech out to check the outside wiring that a squirrel chewed up before.

    07-20-07

No longer a Charter user. Switched to AT&T DSL. The technical side of Charter was OK, but the billing and customer service was terrible. But I'm gone from there, and I finally got all my money back that they owed me.
