Just moved to Belmont Shore, in Long Beach CA. Ordered Charter, had it up and going 4 days after the call (just a delay on getting a service tech scheduled to come out). Ordering process was fast, easy. Tech was here no more than 10 mins, and that included setting up the digital cable box and making a cable for me, he said my line quality was very good.
Speed tests are coming in at 2850/250 which is pretty much advertised speed.
Only wish I could opt for faster upload and more IP addresses/Fixed IP. For that, you have to go to their biz service. And if I did that, I'd go to DSL, as it would then be cheaper for faster speeds.
Overall, happy so far. Will update if there are any changes.
Update: Line is pretty reliable. Wife works from home 2 days a week on a VPN all day and we use a VoIP phone. No problems for the most part.
Reality is it's the only option in town other than DSL.
Update: Well the value of this service continues to decline as Charter continues to raise rates. I'll be going FIOS is VZW ever gets to this area. DSL not an option, I can't get above 1.5mbs with any provider.
Update2: FIOS is in the neighborhood. Will switch.
