"Charter Techs are great, I have no idea how they can stand to work with this company."
"blocked ports, sales lies to you, Customer service backs up sales..."
"The only way to tell if charter is lying to you is if they are speaking... Run away from this company."

Where to start....
Had Charter before. They were the worst. My DSL provider had issues and needed access fast. I had heard Charter had gotten better so we called them up.
We were quoted $40.36 or so a month for 10 mb service.... ok...
Made an appointment for the next day! Great!
Were told that the installer would have everything we needed.
Contractor comes out next day.
He had all the wrong paperwork and knew nothing of an install... sigh...
Looks over the setup and says he cannot do the install, needs newer wire, needs ground.. ect... - here we have one pissed off customer. the selling factor was the next day install -- charter lie #1
After talking to charter several times, I said look, Can't I just do a self install? I had everything from the previous install except a docsis modem and they sell those in stores. They never bothered to unplug the cable at the box... -- I have Direct TV and paid twice the bill for Internet and TV than I paid charter when I switched and did a happy dance every time I paid it because it worked as opposed to charter's bs
Tech support says we can try it. If you have TV signal, you should be able to install. -- tech tells truth..
I go buy modem, hook up where old modem was.. Call charter and give them MAC address BOOM we have internet. -- when we called sales the first time, they told us this would not work and we had to have a professional install -- another charter lie.
Connection works all night! cool. Next day however, we are having outages... Ok tech that came out might be right and some of the wire may need to be replaced. But having some internet was better than none... I actually run an unbroken line from the side of the house to the modem and get it stable.(a temp solution) call tech support, tech will be out early Monday..
Tech comes out, charter employee this time. VERY professional. Metered everything out. Found there was a fried barrel connection in the line. Replaced connection(re did the barrel and the connectors on each side). Signal has been up every since.
Then we get the bill...
Through this process, we were told that the price would be $40. Bill comes in at $45. called to ask why... They have no record of what was quoted to us, this is what the bill is going to be... Call the local office if you have complaints... -- Ahhh the charter we knew from years past.
Oh, and I found out we were quoted "specials" so in 6 months out bill goes up $10 and in 12 months the bill goes up another 15... We were NEVER told this and would not have known without reading the bill... - the lies/omissions continue
So in summary, we could have had internet sooner, but with some issues if I had simply gone to Circuit City and gotten a modem. Tech support would have still had to come out and fix the faulty line, but I can live with that...
Bottom line. Charter continues to be the worst company of any kind I have ever done business with. A lot of the people that do the work are great! But the company is the pits...
