I just ordered 16/2 in Greenville SC (29662) on Saturday morning. I supplied my own cable modem (SB5120). No need for a self-install kit. I just fired up IE and it brought me to a modem provisioning page where I entered my MAC address. Simple and painless.
By the time I got around to testing speed, I noticed I was never getting higher than 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up. I called Charter Sunday morning and they said that I was mis provisioned. A few minutes later, my modem reset and I was getting my promised 16/2.
Fast forward to Sunday night (well, any evening from 4pm to 2am) and the service slows to a crawl. Charter needs to split their node or do something. They are way over provisioned in this area. Of course, their tech support blames my pc or wants to send someone out to measure my signals.
