Have had Charter cable for years in my Michigan home (but hey, they have a monopoly, so where else am I going to go?), but I have to say, compared to Bright House at my winter home in Florida, Charter sucks. More and better channels thru Bright House for the same cost.
And when are the cable companies going to be required to broadcast in digital like the over the air stations? Paying for a cable box to convert back to a digital signal on a digital TV is a rip-off.
Couldn't get Charter internet telephone in my area because CenturyLink has stone walled allowing any other land line service in my area. Probably a blessing in disguise, because I'm sure Charter telephone would be like their cable, too expensive for the middling service you get.
Comments:
 | | dig tv Digital tv =/= digital cable. A tv that is digital means it's ready to receive OTA digital broadcasts only, not a cable company's broadcasts. Charter encrypts it's digital broadcasts (like all TV providers) to fight theft. How is it a ripoff for Charter to expect the same benefit as other companies (equipment at each tv, like At&T and Dish)? And if you knew anything about the business models of most cable companies, you'd know that they make very little money on their tv services. Set top boxes are not a money grab, but a company trying to protect it's assets. Know your facts.h | |
