Ok. I had a serious problem when i first purchased this connection do to the fact I had to hook up the connection, build my mom a computer, and configure everything with absolutely nothing to gain from it. I was basically forced to do a bunch of garbage for my selfish mother with no reward, so i blame my initial reaction partly on that. Yes, the customer service is in india, but who hasn't outsourced their csr's to a foriegn country, be patient they are as helpful as they can be, dont hate the corperation, hate the system.

Where I live, jamestown new york, the area is badly impovershed with a pop of 30k-ish. The poor are poor and the rich are rich and everyone are jerks to each other. Windstream/altel fits the bill in this scenario, provides cheap internet to the masses and offers optional higher teir internet for more the more fortunate. so needless to say, if you have a problem with windstream, it's probably becasue your area fits the description of mine. Poor and unemployed or rich and selfish. I dont know.

Either way, since managing to configure everything at my abode, everything has since run very smoothly, espically for the cost of it all. 40 dollars a month for internet fast as cable, albiet the download is slower but if you want more bandwidth buy cable and quit yer b*tching. I have the same ping with this service that i had with roadrunner cable. Variable 20+ ping which i consider to be outstanding being a hardcore online gamer myself.

Here's my bottom line: If you have money, buy cable, dont get this service and just dont bother with it, money > having to use your brain. If your not so rich but determined like myself, this is an extremely affordable and functional service for the price, hands down. I never ever have lost connection and i live on the top of a hill where storm gusts on average peak 65 mph (almost 2k ft above sea level the rest of the town lies in a valley region) and i never ever have lost connection issues.

On the other hand, i do feel sorry for people who have had trouble with this service, i can easily see how a simple issue can turn into a mess with this company.

Would you mind modifying your review to remove the geographical stereotypes and slurs? I'm certain you could convey the same level of frustration and negativity without the need to lambaste states which reside below the Mason-Dixon line or insinuate Americans who reside in the South-East are intellectually inferior.

    Actually...

Where do you think Alltel's headquarters is (and was)? That's right, genius: Little Rock, Arkansas. Not exactly New York City, is it? "Windstream" is the same company Alltel's wired division was with a different name, plus assets gained due to a merger with Valor Telecom.

That's ok though - your review will be given all the weight deserves when read by others.

Let's see - I hope I'm not too slow-witted to find the Post Now button... Oh, there it is...

    customer service

Wait until he has to call tech support after 12-7, lol. Most of you know what I am talking about
Just like what was mentioned above, Alltel was headquartered in AR, the only thing that changed was the name to Windstream and plus the addition of the Valor telecom market.
