When functioning properly the speeds are fast as advertised and stable.
Frequent connection issues
There are very little options for high-speed in this area.

I began with the 3MB package for about $40 a month, during the first year I owned the service I experienced frequent connection issues and after half a dozen tech visits my connection was relatively stable with an occasional issue. I recently upgraded to the 6MB package for $45 a month and it has been giving me a lot of problems. Very slow speeds, lag spikes and delays, etc. There is no high-speed cable available in this area or I would without a doubt drop Windstream for high-speed cable after using Cox Cable for years without a single issue when I lived in Oklahoma City.

8/18/2011 The service has dramatically improved, but is still troublesome at times. It's very disappointing because you can't beat my attenuation level, I'm a stone throw away from the DSLAM

4/4/2012 I've been on the 12MB package for some time now and the speed is great, unfortunately it disconnects often and at times the latency will spike up sky high. Why can't verizon run FIOS through my area?

Absolutly agree

I've used Winstreams DSL service for 3 years or so now. Even when it was Alltel,my speeds never reached anything close to the 3Meg service I'm paying for. 2 was always the best. After Windstream took over, service has gone dow hill. I've opdned multiple tickets with their helpdesk (in India -sure your name is Frank all right). Every time, the person tells me that there's a known latency issue in my area (North Florida)and they will have it fixed soon... After a month of this I finally let the poor Indian callcenter worker have it with both barrels. I noticed anaction line in the Windstream phone book. Called that and got someone here in the states who tookmy number (after I threatened to cancel all my services with the company) and said someone would call in the next few days to resolve the issue .... sure, we'll see.

Re: Absolutly agree

I know exactly how you feel. It took me 13 months to finally get my 3M working as it should. Here is what it took:

1.) Calling Tier 2 directly.
2.) Submitting a claim to the states PSC(Public Service Commission)

The second garnered more responses than I had in 13 months---and my problem is fixed. In fact, the techies that came to my house eventually discovered that I can get the 6M service. My modem provisioned at 7M so line quality is great.

However, they essentially took my dedicated DSL Modem line and ran it directly from the main feed on the NID. This is done behind their service door in the NID(You can get in here too.) They then took a filter and attached my lines internal to the house(phone/fex/etc...) and all is good. SNR and attenuation are great and speeds are excellent. Good luck in dealing with them but you're gonna have to pressure them hard to get something done. Contacting the PSC will get you LOTS of attention.

I must be lucky

After reading the comments here I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Windstream here ony goes down nightly from 5:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. That's only 7 hours a day I'm paying for and can't use it. It will test at .13Mbps d/l speed.

Tonight a customer service rep told me he'd be happy to terminate my service if I'm not happy.

Tomorrow I call the PUC.
