$53 per month "Gave me at least a decent connect for the past 10 years, though not anymore." "Have outgrown their infrastructure in many locations and have been slow to resolve issue." "Leaving with reservations for capped cable bandwidth."

Thought I was stuck with dial-up after moving here in 2001. Then discovered I could get DSL. Windstream actually dropped the ball at first and I ended up going through a local ISP to get connected. Still Windstream's copper though. Had some issues and ended up switching to Windstream directly since the issue was with the local ISP's equipment and they didn't resolve in a reasonable timeframe. Had a nice stable connection for many years, bumped up to 3Mbps and was quite happy until this fall.
My area is definitely growing and it started showing 09/2011. I started having massive slowdowns most evenings. Called customer service many, many times with no real answers to what the problem was. Finally was told there was new equipment being installed...and for almost a month is was close to stable...or at least I didn't notice the slowdowns as much. Over the holidays with all kids out of school the problems of connection speed became painfully obvious. Finally had customer support, plus tier 2 on dslreports pretty much confirm they are oversubscibed and their bandwidth is simple saturated. Currently have a estimate of April as a resolution date of additional fiber being put in place.
Since it's already been 4 months, another 4 is just too much. Also quite concerned with the common theme of oversubscription in the forum along with a user in GA on the forum reporting the same April date for resolution. Fear the April date becomes September and then 4/2013. So, with reservation I'm leaving for capped cable. Found out I can get 8Mbps from local cable company. Worried about the caps, but for now caps are better than unusable internet 30% of the day. Will watch the forums and might be back if Windstream can fix their infrastructure...
UPDATE
It's been about a year and I'm only back here because I'm having more troubles with Windstream. I've kept my DSL for backup and bandwidth overflow from the capped cable and Windstream has messed up my provisioning either accidentily or intentionally in an effort to mask their lack of bandwidth. My latest complaint is that the support system has degraded massively in the past year. Even after 5 calls and talking to a supervisor, I could not get a ticket opened with applicable information to my provisioning problem. There is a "latency" issue ticket open currently(there is always as that is their name for we have no available bandwidth) and I'm just getting lumped with that even though my issue is with the provisioning.
So I lowed the tech support score to 0 and will update again as things change. If my provisioning isn't fixed by tomorrow, then I will probably be gone for good.
