Line speed has deteriorated over last few months. During peak hours runs less than 300kbps (6Mbps line) sometimes a low as 40kbps. Not even as good as dial-up. Terrible customer service. Supposed have 'area latency outage' which I guess is Winspeak for totally over-subscribed. Been this way since 1/24 - no explanation no remediation date. Every commercial test shows technical metrics in the tank - poor speed, latency, jitter, QOS below 10% will not support streaming at any speed at night. Basically useless.

Poor customer service. Telephone line just as bad goes out 2-3 times a month.

If there was competitor iI would be long gone. filing complaints with FCC, FTC and Georgia PSC - as you can see I am a 'little disappointed.' LOL Looking for alternative but looks like no choice unless go wireless or wimax moves out this way and then I am out of here.

We MUST work together

Windstream customers all over the nation are having similar problems: extremely slow download speed; slow or no service during certain hours; oversubscribed service; latency; and vague promises from Windstream about "fixing" these problems, WE MUST WORK TOGETHER to get our Windstream problems solved. PLEASE: 1) Send an email detailing your complaint to the FCC at: FCCInfo@fcc.gov 2) Contact both your US Senators (preferably by email) and tell them about your problems with Windstream. BE SURE TO SEND a COPY of your emails to your senators to US SENATOR TOM UDALL, who is currently investigating Windstream problems here in New Mexico. Send a copy to: sarah_cobb@tomudall.senate.gov 3) Contact as many people as you know in your area and ask them to do the same. The ONLY way we can get the service promised all of us by Windstream is to have many, many people complain from all over the country. Windstream is a rural telephone service & ISP provider. They received $6 Billion in revenue this year; surely they can spend some of that to do what they are supposed to do: provide service to rural areas. THANKS FOR HELPING!!!

Re: We MUST work together

How do you know Senator Udall is investigating them? Not saying you're lying or anything, it's just that I tried to find some info about it on Google and came across something pretty interesting.

Windstream is a donor to Senator Udall's PAC and to him directly. Funny huh?

Re: We MUST work together

I know because I have been working on our local rural Windstream problem since 12/5/11, and I have been in contact Senator Udall's since then. Because of my request for help, they have talked with the NM Public Regulation Commission which is also working on this problem, and the FCC. They are also in contact with Windstream about the major problems we are experiencing here in NM. I also send more Windsteam info and receive frequent updates from Udall's office and know that they are continuing to do all they can to help. While Windstream may contribute to Udall, they have not and will not be able to buy influence. Senator Tom Udall is extremely honest, has high ethics and works hard for all New Mexicans. In addition, his office has helped our area on other important issues. It's great to be able to say, "Thank heavens we have Tom Udall!" Wish he would fall into a Xerox machine -- we need lots more like him.

Re: We MUST work together

PS -- Just checked your links and discovered that Windstream gave $1500 to Senator Udall in 2010 and in 2012 and they gave the same amount to many others.

Oh, that's good then. I hope something comes from his investigation. I'm going to try to contact my Senator as well.

Re: We MUST work together

Thanks so much!! If you know other people in your situation, please encourage them to contact their senators too. Also -- the FCC!!!
Note that the FCC is getting involved now -- and the more complaints they get the better for everyone!

Slow NE Ohio

I have complained to windstream for over a month now and have been told there is a slowness issue during peak hours affecting multiple states from Ohio to Arkansas and they are currently working on it. This has been 3 weeks, 3 managers, multiple calls to support and a tech visit. Most have been nice, which is great, but I want my service. Today I was getting 1.6 mbps down and I pay for 12.

My service has been slow since I joined...

My apartment complex has some strange deal with WindStream so that they are the only ISP offered here. I pay for the 12MBit package and have only ever gotten a fraction of that. As much as Comcast sucked, at least it worked and was as fast as advertised (in my case, anyway). I hate WindStream with a passion and really hope they do something to fix the cruddy service, or I'm gone ASAP.

Contact Ga PSC

My speeds are as slow as 9kbs some mornings.
In Georgia contact the PSC

More formal complaints = more pressure.
