I have no other options for "broadband" than Windstream. I pay for a 3Mbps package and I rarely see the speed.. Averages around .5 during peak hours and 2 during off hours. Upload speed is .3 at best, its supposed to be .75Mbps. Latency runs around 180 during peek with spikes into the 750ms range. Disconnects about once every two hours or so. After tax and fees it runs me 45.84 a month. Install was quick and thats about the only thing going for it.
After a phone call to tech support two weeks ago which lasted over 30 minutes, they finally concluded that there was something wrong with their equipment. They sent a tech out, he gave me a new modem, confirmed that everything on my end was OK and then nothing.. Nothing became of any of it. Its like that don't care. They have a had a FCC sponsored monopoly on this market for so long they just don't care. A local EMC is part of the federal fiber internet project and will be selling service by the end of the year. Their base package of 15Mbps runs 10 dollars less a month that the half hearted 3 I pay for now. I CAN NOT WAIT for it to be available in my city so I can kick Windstream to the curb permanently!
After waiting 3 months for a resolution, it still hasn't come. I currently seeking a attorney to take them to court over consumer fraud. Hopefully it can go class action.
