I have had great service for 2 years now with no downtime other than the odd reset. Speeds are usually over 5 megabits down and over 500kbits up.

With basic cable and internet the price is almost 100 a month which is expensive to me but the speed is addicting. Only downside I see is I very seldom utilize the full bandwidth. Big downloads are quick providing the spot you download from can provide the bandwidth.

UPDATE----Speed has increased to 6Mb and 600Kb. The only complaint I have is it isn't possible to utilize that speed. If using Bittorrent---as soon as the speed get going anywhere near 5 Mb the connection quits. I have to reboot the modem each time. I have adjusted setting to no avail--so suspect the provider. I have yet to find a site when surfing that will max out the connection speed----so kind of paying for nothing. I have come to the conclusion that 3 Mb is lots for most users.

Still good service---even switched the phone to Cogeco as it was cheaper

UPDATE: I had service downgraded to basic while my PC was being fixed. Called 2 nights ago and requested Pro service. 24 hours later still no increase so I called again. Guy that answered said hed fix it immediately----and he did. Only downside is price and 100Gig cap.

    Cogeco high speed service increase

About a month ago Cogeco stats and charts suggested that 5.5 Meg was the speed for about 100 - 110 users and represented the highest range in the Cogeco chart.

Since they doubled the Cogeco lite speed February 17 I have noticed that the charts show a range about 6.5 Meg for about 40 - 50 users and this also represented the highest range in the Cogeco chart.

Has Cogeco increased the 5000/640 service and therefore are getting speeds of 6 to 7 Megs.

Bell is now offering a 6 Meg service with no increase in cost for those who were signed up for the 3 Meg service.

Looks like the customer is getting the benefit from this competition and struggle for market share.

Bell cannot offer Cable TV and the trend with VOIP seems to point to a cable victory in internet service, long distance service, and TV service in the long run.

Balanced competition in overall phone service will keep the costs low.

Bundled with Cogeco digital cable my internet 5000/640 service costs $39.95. Two years ago Cogeco was offering download speeds of 5 Meg service replacing their 3 Meg service with no change in cost. Their present promotion offers 5000/640 service for $34.95 for 12 months without a cable or other bundling.

Has Cogeco announced a faster service or have they just increased the speed without any fanfare?

    Can't beat Cogeco.
