    Thank you everyone! (especially help1234@cogeco.com for how to do). Changing from the Samsung to the RCA high speed cable modem moved the speed up to 3853/615. People at the Cogeco storefront at Oakville Place were very helpful too. Fabulous!

    Looks like the Samsung was starting to die.

    UNHAPPY CAMPER HERE. High speed internet is fast when it works, but it has suddenly started freezing mid-transmission whether upload or download... net result is performance far worse than dial-up. It IS DEAD. DSLreports demonstrates this... look it up. Past 3-4 days has been worse Internet performance than in 1996 when I had dial-up with Netcom. Cogeco... you must do better. Is there a node problem in our neighbourhood... something jamming up? Please get it cleared. I have made no software changes in weeks. What happened 3-4 days ago to Cogeco high speed internet service? It just DIED. Current date time: Dec.8,2007 10:58 pm EST. L6L 3L3

    testing shows you are on a Samsung modem - If you exchange the modem to an RCA, you will get better speeds.
    DIRECTIONS TO: QEW & TRAFALGAR

    Exit QEW Toronto at Trafalgar Road, head North on Trafalgar to Leighland Ave, turn left, Oakville Place on Left hand side. Located at QEW and Trafalgar. Storefront is on the main level just outside Sears.

    It worked!!! Changing from the Samsung to the RCA high speed cable modem moved the speed up to 3853/615.

    Same thing happening here, we are L6L 1E7, tried everything here, all hardware up and running AOK. But constant 'page cannot be displayed' messages, email service not connecting. Alot of hitting the refresh button. I called customer support this evening to see what the heck was going on, everything is fine on their end and even my modem is running fine BUT they suggested to bring it in to get a replacement as it must be too old. I agree that it is old in computer years but with others in our area reporting the same thing, something is up. Maybe the Beavers were right about consistancy with phone high speed internet.

    Thanks very much, nice to hear I'm not alone. Does sound like something is up in our area (too much coincidence). However, I am going to take the suggestion and replace the Samsung cable modem with an RCA and see what happens... I'll report back here on how this works (or not)... (likely Wednesday). Cross fingers and hope.

    modem...

    i was having similar issues with the modem as well at one time, and i had the samsung modem.. i then changed the modem to a RCA modem, not all great looking, but they work a lot better.. give that a try..
