I had the pro plan dw 7000 dw-static-ip and had issues with getting consistent up load speeds which sometimes was slower then dial-up at 7k, and my best time was 140k upload which caused time-outs and caused problems with more then two computers running at a time. I went ahead and upgraded to the sm. business plan and 2 watt .98 dish system and have had nothing but great uploads and download speeds with 4 computers uploading at a time through heavy rain& snow storms as well during heavy usage peak times. My upload speed never goes below 200k and my download is always above 1400 which I could never get that consistent speeds with the one watt .74 dish and pro plan. I recommend the consumer plan if you want to just use one computer at a time and don't really have a need for downloading large files (350mb+) and have little use for upload speed( again larger files being sent out like pictures). I do have that need, and for the extra money it fixed all problems. If you have any questions about either system e-mail me and I gladly reply with my past and present knowledge of both systems.
My speed today 3-10-06 during a heavy snow storm here at 9,000 feet and with two inches of snow on the dish is 277 upload and 1588 download, I paid 799.00 after rebates and that included install and shipping. I pay now 120.00 per month with static IP address, I know without static IP it is 99.00 per month. My installer was awesome the first time out and it helps in getting to know your installer(good repore) for future service calls if needed.
I have somewhat complex wired and wireless system. We have a NOAA registered weather station as well as a web cam which are both wireless. They both upload information every 3 minutes to a website and the international weather observation site, we also have 4 wired computers and 3 wireless which one of them is 500 feet away using repeaters.
Again if you have any question please feel free in asking me and I will do my best in answering them or send you to the proper forum.
You can look at the webcam-weather station at wycololodge.com
8-2-06 update. Still having very good service with average download speeds at 1580 and upload 280,s. Yes about 10% of the time during high usage times my speed falls to 1000/200's.
10-22-06 update. We have since upgraded the system to the business edition 179.00 per month,1200Mb FAP, which is now 488 upload and 1900+ download speed averages most of the time except during high usage times.Other than that, No problems to speak of.
Dale,
05-01-08 update..Still have the business internet with Hughes. I'm still happy with the plan. The only negative is that I should have never switched the dw7000 modem to the HN7000S. Although my speeds are almost the exactly the same with this modem upload/download all day, I had faster speeds with the older modem with the exception of high demand hours. But now I have 1550kbps down and 477 up, 24 hours a day even during high usage times .
We now have nine wired&wireless computers running, the NOAA weather station as well as our webcam 24 hours a day.
If it is not broken don't try to fix it!
