Update: I've now been with Shaw more than a year this time around, and the speed and reliability of service has been excellent. I expected to be charged regular price after their 12-month promotional period was over, and I was satisfied enough with the service to accept that. Unfortunately they've increased their regular prices twice in the last few months, while simultaneously reducing monthly usage caps and introducing outrageous new charges for over-use. Shaw's public rhetoric makes it clear that this is an anti-competitive measure designed to target companies like Netflix by making the bandwidth too expensive for internet video streaming services. In the meantime ADSL competitor Telus has greatly improved their service in my area with a new fibre node, and they are currently not enforcing usage caps. I can therefore no longer recommend Shaw, and I will be switching back to Telus.
Comments:
Po4 @shawcable.net | telus>shaw I just hope telus does not collude with shaw and do the same with constant lowering of caps and overage fees. IE what bhell/rogers do | |
