I disagree

"I recommend Rogers because they don't have monthly caps right now, and they are the best ISP in Ontario."

I left Rogers as soon as they cut the speeds in half, how can you take that crap?

Re: I disagree

I prefer having lower speeds than having a monthly cap ! I'm a heavy user (about 18gb per month)

That's still less than the 20/20GB AEI provides me with.
lol..My slowest speeds still beat your fastest speed.

Re: I disagree

That was then, AEI is very good now, they are back up, and the speeds are better than rogers' crappy 1500/192.

Re: I disagree

He's on AEI's 3.5/800 like Sympatico for $49.95.
You buy your own modem, and surf away!

You have to PM him about the speeds.

The problems with Bell Nexxia are over, so I'm pretty sure AEI isn't half that bad...

"Comparing to other ISP's in Toronto, Rogers is the best"

Are you on pot?

1st.. you can't really compare because Rogers is the only cable ISP in the GTA and other areas in Quebec and Ontario.

2nd.. I've been with them for 3 months and their service is complete crap. Horrible ping times, speeds, and reliability.

ADSL (Sympatico) -- the only reason I left was because I was going over their caps, but now I regret it... I'm going to look into their Ultra service... as for Rogers as a good Cable ISP in TO, I completely disagree!

You have to get docsis to enjoy rogers?

This is non sense, you can have a non docsis modem with rogers and still enjoy the service. I had non docsis before, i was getting good speeds. So don't scare people like that, telling them that they have to have a docsis to enjoy rogers.
that's rubbish.
Also, rogers is far from being the best ISP in Toronto right now. There are a few I can name ahead of mr Ted Rogers.

best part of docsis is it chops 15-20ms off ALL pings because of that killer first hop

First of all, this report is from my experience with Rogers. Not yours. And you know the speeds that I was getting with a non-DOCSIS modem... THEY WERE HORRIBLE !! And don't forget the pings too. And where exactly did I say that Rogers is the best ISP in Toronto right now ?

You can't just base your decision on just your experience. By the way, I wasn't being rude to you, you ain't got to be rude to me.

Where did you say rogers was the best ISP?

It doesn't say that in my report anymore. I deleted it 1 day after I posted this review.

Depends on what you need...

I sent AEI an e-mail after visiting their web page. It all sounded great for ultra highspeeds for 60 bucks. A few business days later I received an very impersonal, very scripted e-mail back. Not a single reference to the e-mail I had sent them. Only the typical sales pitch and the bottom line. You need a credit card. I like millions of others on the net don't need nor want a credit card. They offered me no deal(like Rogers did when I started with them, first two months free)and since I use a cell phone for my home phone(way of the future)that would be an added cost. So lets sum up. $60 for double the speed I get now. I'd need to buy a modem, even a cheap one about $150, 0 with Rogers. Installation of phone line $50.

Comparison: Rogers $540 per year
AEI $920 for first year
$720 for each year after
I think for the 1350kbps I get now, I'll stick with Rogers until they realize many people don't have credit cards and they offer some kind of deal like free installation.

Re: Depends on what you need...

True... I would have moved to AEI if I didn't have to buy the damn modem.

worst isp ever

Rogers has the worst connection...before Rogers bought it from Shaw the connection and service was execellent...since rogers came the connection is as fast as 56k...i get 1000+ ping when playing games online and my d/l speed is 0-20kbps compared to what it used to be with shaw- 100ping and d/l at 200+kbps...they are smoking some serious pot down there...everytime i call for tech support they say there is something wrong and they are "working on it"...pure bs...

Rogers Speed terrible

I live in South Frontenac, Ontario. The 3G speeds are horrible lately for both my Rocket Hub and Blackberry. I am having a site survey done to see if I can switch to RipNet. Rogers support consistently says nothing is wrong and look at data usage rather than download and upload speeds. It is very frustrating.
