Bell was slow on letting me know if DSL was going to be available at my new residence, so I decided to go with Rogers. I went to Rogers website, which seems poorly designed.
I signed up online, and bundled to save 15% (2 year commitment). It took about 13 days for someone to come and install it (it was contracted out to a third party). He said it was done and left, without telling me what I had to do to set up email, or if there was anything else I should know about. I was simply informed that the internet was now hooked up and to sign his work order. He said the books are in the box. When I looked in the box, it was only the manual for the cable remote. To this day I do not have a Roger's email address as I couldn't be bothered listening to the automated dude on the phone to be able to get it set up.
For the first month or so, my connection was all over the map. One moment I got 350 down, the next I got 26 down, in a matter of minutes. I called Rogers, but they said everything is fine. My connection seems to drop for no reason at times, and I have found out that this is a common occurance.
After two years (unless my line quality improves), I will be going back to DSL.
EDIT: It has been 2 years, and I am back with Aliant. Rogers service and customer service suck. Still had conection issues to my last day, and the customer service from anyone in Ontario was horrible.

| Rogers Fucking Sucks!!!
I signed up for rogers home telephone and high speed internet in January 2007, and I have had problems ever since with these services. First of all, the technician who came to make the installations the first day was most of the time rude and poorly informative. when he finished the installations, he handed me a internet kit and left. He didn't explain what it was for or how to set up an internet connection, leaving me completely unsure of what to do next. With my telephone service ready to use, I dial up some numbers, and every time I was on the phone the call would drop. Many technicians came to fix the problem; however, they were unable to find the problem. Therefore, I had to switch back to Bell, and so far I have no problems with my phone service. Likewise, my internet connection is very intermittent. Sometimes I am surfing the net for 1 hour, and suddenly the connection drops for 5 minutes, 30 minutes or even 1 hour. This pisses me off very much. 3 days ago I contacted rogers. I had to wait 10 minutes on the phone to talk to a damn technical service representative who couldn't even reset my rogers email account password. He was not able to give me a solution to my problem in a short time, and at times he was very condescending. What a very bad costumer service rogers has. I am going to change to Bell Sympatico internet. I don't recommend any one to sign up for rogers home phone or internet. Especially if you or your kids are students going back to school. When you sign up for these services, chances are you'll always have some kind of problem with rogers as a service provider. Don't be fool, pay for a service that really is reliable and is worth your money!!! | |
