    Web site is down often, can't login. Tech Support staff bounce you around from person to person without trying to address issues/problems. Tech Support seem to be confused; each staff member contradicts the previous one. Email seems to be reliable; connection is almost always on. The few connection outages have been during power failures or around 9am. The service isn’t as fast as advertised. P2P/Bittorent is throttled even though BitTorrent is one of the advertised uses of the service. The service has a very small bandwidth cap, and planned fees for going over cap are high. ISP’s site for monitoring bandwidth usage rarely works.

    There is

    Hey there,

    There is other choices... Unless you can't get DSL in your area.

    I use a company called TEKSAVVY, they are VERY good and 1/2 the cost of Rogers or Bell.

    May be worth giving a shot.

    Add it up

    @rogers.com

    Customers dissatisfaction

    Totally agree Rogers service in Markham is really bad, as I have been having nothing but trouble with their service.

    slow speeds, speed throttling,

    Anytime after 4pm to 1 or 2 am your speeds drop off "up to" more that 80%...

    Rogers knows about the speed issues but do little to nothing about them. If anything don't opt for Extreme or Express go for Lite/Ultra lite if you must even though the caps (your limit of bandwidth per month) are way to low..2gb,!Don't expect to use your internet for anything else than email/Surfing (No downloads)exclusively.

    If I had choices for Internet I would drop Rogers in a second.

    tekcrappy

    actually teksavy's prices aren't half of rogers.

    rogers express 7m $44.95+$3 modem rental+free install+free static ip

    teksavvy 5m $29.95+$99.99 modem purchase+19.99 activation+$4 static ip

    and most important. add on the band rate $7 to $25 extra.

    Not to mention comparing dsl to cable.

    pls note that rogers speed that i use to compare is 2m faster. sorry tek's prices aren't half.

    Re: tekcrappy

    Since you are commenting on my review, I would assume you have read my review? Seems not tho. You would have known that between ~4pm to midnight the service slows right down. Infact people in my area get less then 1.5mbit do to rogers over selling and under servicing the node. Rogers has known about this issue for 2 years, yet still signs up new customers. So also could you explain how rogers 1.5mbit speed is 2mbit faster then 5mb?

    Seems like your mistaken on a lot of things gurn. Rogers doesn't offer static ip's on their residential service at all. So the fact that tek savvy offers one doesn't mean i would be forced to pay for one. I would have to upgrade to rogers business service to get a static IP from Rogers. And those packages START at ~$100/month.

    Secondly you seem to be including a $99 one time fee for teksavvy for modem purchase in a monthly comparison when thats not a monthly fee. Rogers charges about the same fee for modem purchase, infact when I purchased my modem from rogers it was $149.99...

    Also you failed to mention the usage caps. Teksavvy's is 200gb for that plan, while rogers is ??? 60gb or 40gb.. or 2gb depending on what support staff you ask. Also tek savvy's overage rate is $0.25/gb, where rogers depending on who you ask at the company will be between $1.50 to $10/gb.

    Sadly DSL isn't aviable in my area, which is why im still with slowgers.

    @rogers.com

    whatever

    actually i respect your pain. it was the comment posted on this post that tecksavvy's prices are half that of rogers.

    first of all comparing dsl to cable service "usually" cable beats dsl in speed and especially reliability. I feel that tekksavvy is really taking over this forum and comments like teksavvy is half price i couldn't let slide.

    As for your issue, ok rogers is sucking in your area. Been there done that. Rogers fixed it and credited me down to the tier speeds i was getting (1m). yup i was passed around, yup never the same answer. In the end they fixed it. Compare that with teksavvy who usually just blames bell from what i can see on the forums here. big ol' pass the buck. Not that we are even allowed to see complaints on this forum since teksavvy seems to run and control there forum. (which has its pro's and con's)

    teksavvy's still the new kid to me, they sure have a lot of positive reviews. if they were in your area i'd say go for it. I believe there customer recruiting is focused on bell customers. The pricing does not compete with rogers.

    anyways im sorry you just can't compare a "good" cable service to dsl. its just a matter of if your cable provider is good in your area.

    Rogers & Teksavvy

    I'm with Rogers and really haven't had any problems over the last 4yrs. I live in Etobicoke have the express service with Rogers! I bought my modem from them when I joined (Motorola) which was on special for $79.95. My speed when I check it is always around 6900 and never has gone below about 6400 at any time. I was with Sympatico for about 3yrs and had nothing but problems with my speed.It was suppose to be around 3000,but I was always around between 700 and 1000 when I checked it! Since the switch to Rogers I've been satisfied. Has anyone tried www.yak.com Although their dsl as well,there rate is $34.95 for a speed of I think 5mp. No contracts.I think it's even cheaper if you bundle your phone with it!
