(ratings match consensus)

Started on Tuesday night with a call in. After a few voice menus and then a few more voice menus, couple disconnections and so on, I finally get through to a rep. Then the rep can't find my address for service. Tried for about 30 minutes and gave up.

Wednesday night I give another call in. I had a friend check the address and he was able to find it so we just assumed it was a database problem. Either way we go through and then the service rep tells me that the last person who was checking my account forgot to log out and went home, so it became locked until it timed out. Anyways that was another 30-45 minutes wasted.

Thursday night I go out and figure out who lives here before I moved in. With that information they finally pull up my address and set everything up. Tells me that a tech will be by tomorrow with a modem.

Friday morning around 10:00 AM the tech shows up and spends maybe 5 minutes double checking everything and making sure the modem syncs.

Friday afternoon I notice that the speeds aren't quite what Rogers Extreme Plus should be (18) while I was only getting (8). After making a few posts in the Rogers forum I came to the conclusion that I was on the wrong profile. After another 30 minutes on the phone because the previous rep once again forgets to unlock my account, I get things switched to the Extreme service.

Now I'm told that Extreme Plus service is only available to business, which I was told otherwise. Suppose I'll find out.

    Update:

After two calls to customer service I was able to upgrade to the Extreme Plus service. However I have only hit the advertised speed once. My line has 30 or so SNR as reported by the tech and only 23 people on my node?. Usually average around 1500kb/s downloads but during some parts of the day only 800kb/s. This is on a 1800kb/s rated service.

I will update the quality of service as I go.

    Tech support sucks at Rogers.

It's not only available to business. I've had it offered as a residential service many times. They are just incompetent on the phone. Call and ask to speak to a manager, and his manager, and the next manager until your on the the phone for 4 hours and have got things settled out. Ted, I hope your reading this, your tech support sucks!

Guess I forgot to update. After I called back again I was able to upgrade my service. I think you're referring to their customer service reps not their tech support. The one I spoke to in particular seemed fine. However the customer service reps were horrible.
