I am with Rogers for about 3 years in Downtown Toronto - it was quite reliable all this time. May be four or five 10-minute outages in the entire time I am with them.
In terms of technology - they are pretty advanced - Belden coaxial wires keep the signal well - the modem shows 200+ days of uptime. I've had the same IP address for more than a year! Not like with Bell's 18th century rotten wires.
However, Rogers' caps are very low - they've bumped the speeds (and prices) so now you can easily go over. The overage charges are high too.
Other issue I have is the DNS. Their servers go up and down and web surfing becomes really annoying and slow. I punched OpenDNS into the WRT54GL (running Tomato) - and now everything works flawlessly.
If they would just bump the caps a little bit - then it'd be simply fantastic. But I know that's not happening because Bell is going to cry crocodile tears to the government about unfair competition.
I can't stand Bell - I get angry instantaneously, so I will stick with Rogers for now.
