I called in to see if I could buy a modem and get service even if the cable isn't in my name (shared with landlord). The first guy I got said no, then he wasn't sure, then he forwarded me to some other guy - who said I have to order over the phone and wait for a modem to be shipped to me, then a guy has to come set it up.
Ended up buying a starter kit from Futureshop ($99.95+tax for a DPC2100r2 modem) which included 3 months free Express service; Futureshop guy said it was okay, and if I didn't work out I could just refund the whole kit within 14 days anyways.
Setup was simple and easy since we already had cable running. I spent about 30min on the phone with an activation guy, mostly waiting for him to type thing into his system. As soon as I got off the phone, I could get on the 'net.
Their support seems decent. My modem started disconnecting often, so called in around 10pm on a weekday and waited less than 5 minutes on hold before I got a tech. He spoke proper English and determined that it was either my cable or modem and my signal was somewhat weak. He thought I had some router problems as well, but he didn't squarely blame it. Fast response, but not as useful as some people on this forum.
I don't use their e-mail or torrent. The 60GB cap is a bit close though, I'm the only one using the connection.
