Customer service and response time is great.
All good.
It's not FIOS, but it's the best I could get here.

Accidentally posted under DSL reviews previously.

The best I could get was 75/5(?) for $59.99. When my speeds were closer to 35/5 (really...), RCN sent out another company to rewire from the basement up, at no charge and dropped my rate to $49.99. Now, three months later, they are offering 110/15 for the same price.

Ordering and installation went smoothly.

Arris router - have an inexpensive TP-Link for wireless.

The customer service is good, can't complain about that at all, but when you come down from FIOS, nothing makes you 100% happy anymore. You get used to it...
My mother liked to say, "You get used to hanging after a while, too," but she wasn't talking about anything even remotely related to an ISP.

Update: July 2015 - RCN has given us the upgrade to Service Tier: 110Mbps/15Mbps without additional fees. Virtually trouble free connections with uploads a little better than advertised.

Update: April 19, 2018 - Service Tier: 155bps/15Mbps

Update: September 20, 2018 - Service Tier upgraded to: 250bps/15Mbps and price went down! Can't beat it.

That is nothing...

Try living on a 3000/768 connection for seven years, not getting the advertised speed you're paying for, and a congestion problem that happens every single night from 4 pm to about 12 am- 1 am. There are days where it is near non-existent, reaching speeds of 25-30 KB/S. Customer Support has no clue why this happens, and I'm pretty confident I did not exceed 250 GBs of data, download or upload. Due to my busy work schedule I only have a few hours to use the internet, some nights I don't access the internet at all.

What you're going through is nothing compared to what people in Rural America are going through. These companies don't give a flying fuck. All that matters is profits.

Re: That is nothing...

Not really "going through" anything and don't understand the reason for your post, frankly. We have no limits, connection has been consistent since the upgrade (actually happened a few months back, but only updated the review yesterday) and Customer Support is great. When my speeds were not coming through properly, RCN was out here in two days literally re-placing every inch of cable from the basement, through the attic to the poles. No complaints from me. Don't even miss FIOS anymore and certainly don't miss Verizon's BS.
