12/03/09:Consistently reliable connection. Can count on one hand the number of times it has gone down over the past two years. When it did go down, service was usually restored in four hours or less. Speed can drop to below 1mbps at times, usually between 6pm-Midnight. Although this is fairly rare. Seems to happen much more frequently during the summer, when students are home for summer break. Speeds can drop somewhat on weekends during peak usage, but usually not below 3mbps. Comcast hasn't raised our price from the current $42.95 since we were sold to them by AT&T back in 2002, when we only had 3/384. We currently have 8/1. Our area is supposed to be upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 by the end of 2010. We recently purchased our own modem from Tiger Direct for $60 to save the $5 monthly lease Comcast was charging us for our 8 year old modem. We will be returning the leased modem to our local Comcast office. Hopefully we won't have any issues with them trying to bill us for the returned rental.
