I waited for 6 months for Qwest DSL to become available in my area. Meanwhile Cox started offering service at a reasonable price, I called and have never looked back. In general Cox has been a good service, but maybe a little behind the times. Service is still a little unpredictable in certain parts of town. Biggest complaint is the $50 they charge to change your address if you move, even if you self-install. Also most technicians I have come into contact with could use more training.
It never fails that as I move around town, I move into an area with good service, the speed continues to drop as more people move in, or install service, and when I am moving out the speed starts to rebound.
Update: The area I live in now has pretty reliable service. It did take about 10 days and 2 tech visits to get my service working. This time they brought out a Motorola SB5120. No complaints with service anymore. A lot of network upgrades the last couple of months and service seems more reliable. Have to wait and see if that lasts as I live on the edge of town and it hasn't filled in around me yet.
Update: Still have the same service. Powerboost is a nice addition. Still have the same problem with slowdowns throughout the day. A new computer and modem have helped, but wish it was more predictable.
