We got powerboost but haven't seen much here. I'd rather have a permanent speed increase. Too bad ATNT isn't doing FIOS here in Pensacola.

Service has been solid. We also had a $2.00 price increase earlier this year but still no DSL available just 256/256. Embarq doesn't offer 5.0 service out here.

    (1021.1 / 130.9 KB/sec)
Compared to the average of 1252 tests from cox.net:
    * download is 53% better, upload is 32% better

This isn't bad for being on prime time.

Speeds have increased to 12/1 which makes me wondering why hasn't the UPSPEED increased? I would like to run some things around here such as a DXtuner.com node (someday) and possibly a private FTP server.1 meg only goes so far. Do I need to go to a FIOS served area to get the higher speeds? GURRR

Tech support has improved slightly but still lacks.

and the price did increase two dollars. Still faster then DSL which is still not available out here. Being on a fixed income, this hurts.

    Update
    10-Dec

I've moved from Fort Walton Beach, FL to just outside town and going from a DSL connection to a cable connection is a breath of fresh air (the apartment had outdated cable connections) however right after the @Home days the Cox.net came into play and let the bull begin

    The Good
Speeds went from 3.0/256 to 5.0/780 to 10/1.0

Pings are stable though however other people in the area have reported jumpy pings.

    The Bad
monthly caps were in place. Not a big deal but if they tell me i'm using Winamp to much I'm bailing. Price could be cheaper too. Other markets can get FIOS and with Cox they get more speeds. /me drools

    The Ugly
Techs who read scripts "reset your modem...your modem signal is ok" how about monitoring your network. The only + is they speak English not Indian.

$55.00 a month is a bit steep considering its an ad on price for having cable tv.
The Cable itself leaves something to be desired. Crappy pictures on the OTA channels and overpriced DVR however I wanted an all inclusive DVR that picks up digital cable without a separate tuner.

    That's my review.

    Regarding Up/Down speeds from Cox.

Hi, I am writing this in response to your post. I have the top level package for HSI from Cox, and I am wondering how 7447 down/1084 up fairs on an overall scale on the performance of cox internet. I am also wondering if there is any settings or anything I can change in order to speed it up a bit... Please let me know if there is anyway to do this and how these speeds compare.
