I really can't complain about Cox HSI. There isn't really anything negative that I can't live with. The choices in my market boil down to one DSL provider and one cable provider. If I were to choose DSL, then I fully expect to have to go round and round with the local telco to come into my residence and split the line into voice and data. The last experience I had with that process in San Diego was extremely frustrating. The telco would schedule a date/time and then never show up for the appointment or even call to reschedule. Each time I had to take the day off from work.
Bottom line were with Cox is that my residence was cable-ready. There was no bullshit involved with having to screw around with taking time off from work and having to be home in order to let the cable guy in to do anything. Cox isn't necessarily the best bang for the buck or even the best service. It is, however, the most convenient. It's just easier to bundle Internet, cable and telephone services into one monthly payment than it is to dick around with 3 separate bills every month. The consumer is going to get screwed by the ever-increasing number of cable and DSL company mergers anyway. That is the nature of the American f*cked up rampant consumer culture.
