I moved to Manhattan, KS on July 1st. So, in anticipation of this move, on June 26th I ordered service from Cox for digital cable/HDTV and HSI.
I had requested a Saturday, July 8th installation, to give me time to get somewhat together before hand. They confirmed the order with a plan to appear between 1pm and 3pm on Friday, July 7th.
The tech showed up during the time specified...and after some poking around outside, came in and said that a new cable needed to be dug out to my apartment building. And, that they were doing it that very moment. But, in the mean time there was nothing he could do.
He said I would get a call in a day or two to reschedule his visit.
Several days go by...now Wednesday, July 12th. I call asking what is going on. The line that has been in the ground for a week, needs to be connected....and that they would call me back either later that day or the next day.
Well, I never did get that call back.
I want my TV and Internet (and phone service)....guess I'll have to see about getting a landline....
20060718 Update: Called Cox again to find out what is going on. Told that they need to research the matter and would call me back later 'tonight'. Never got called.
2100 - 20060720 Update: I emailed "Valerie.Hazlett@cox.com" on July 18th, but haven't heard anything back....
2105 - 20060720 Update: called Cox to ask what is going on again....again told that they would research the matter and get back to me, but I told them that I had been calling every few days and getting the same answer. So, now they have scheduled somebody to come out Tuesday morning to explain why cables sticking out of the ground near the building entrance (installed shortly after the July 7th installation appointment) translate to waiting for feeder to be installed...and nothing further having been done yet.
0900 - 20060725 Update: the installer showed up, and the feeder, that was installed on July 7th and has had no additional work done on it since then, has no tap on the end so he can't connect me. And, it isn't his department so he can't and won't do anything further. Until somebody calls me to reschedule his visit to try again.
1930 - 20060725 Update: stayed at work late as if to make up lost time, got out of the hole where I have no cellphone reception and found a message that an installer would be out between 3pm and 5pm tomorrow. When I got home I checked to see if they had done anything since this morning....they haven't. I guess they plan to crack the whip tomorrow morning?
1530-ish - 20060726 Update: finally got connected. They ran a temporary line to get things working. The installer didn't know what stuff I had ordered though, so didn't have the 'free' cable modem that I was supposed to get or the HD converter box. He got someone to bring him an HD converter box, and I happened to have an SB5101 that I picked up on eBay a while back. So, I'm up and running. And, they said they'll waive all the installation charges.... Wonder if I'm still on a 12 month contract? Since the 'free' modem was for doing a contract, but since I'm using my own modem....
Now, I'm thinking that I want another HD converter box and an HD DVR.....hmmmm....
