I'm getting 9-14Mbps down and around 1 Mbps upload speeds. Bellsouth informed me I couldn't even get DSL in my subdivision!
Update: Nov. 2008 I never had speeds even close to this with DSL, around 20mps down and 5mps up. Dropped connection is rare and customer support is pretty good.

| TigerNutz Laissez les bons temps rouler Premium join:2000-12-23 Little Rock, AR | recent update My speeds have decreased greatly from my previous and the package I'm PAYING for. The advertised speeds were 7 to 15 mbps down and I WAS getting that. Now, I only get 1-4mbps download.
I would like to get what I pay for!

If I networked straight in with CAT5 I can hit 18+ on download speed. It kinda defeats the purpose of the laptop though.

| Cox High Speed sucks. The only reason to be on their service is if there is no other option. Even then, don't waste your money with their more expensive offerings. Just order the Value package so you can get real speeds without BS compression, which hurts gaming performance anyway! With Cox, you don't get what you pay for. And the worst part is their Customer Service. Their website doesn't have all the options to make changes to your account, and they aren't available 24/7 to order what you want. They actually list work hours for a 24/7 ISP! Duh... | |

| ahh.. i never ever ever rely on wireless PERIOD! the point of having a laptop is so you can be portable. wireless you have lots of plp and breakup. i can never do anything reliably on a wifi connection vs a hard connection.
and, i hope you don't do things like bank or download huge files on the wifi too (doesn't matter if it's open or locked)
also, cox hsi has been solid here. no reason to switch to (gulp) embarq who almost got purchased by frontier.
NO home service is perfect, and with caps and pay per byte being the norm soon, the internet will soon cease to exist.
