I installed my own modem, so I got nothing from Cox as far as an installation goes. Cox tells me my service level is 5mb/2mb, with Powerboost speeds of 10mb/2mb, but most of the time I get speeds between 12mb and 21mb down, with upload pretty consistant around 2mb. The only problem is that every now and then, the service will slow to a crawl, I'm talking 30 seconds for the Google logo to download no google.com. If I happen to be playing MLB baseball on my XBox 360, this slowdown is enough to kick me out of my game. The problem generally resolves itself after a few minutes. I used to live in a Comacst area where service was flawless, never dropped or had things like this ever. Cox did send a mailing to everyone in my condo complex that they are working on upgrades in the area, and that we'll have an outage one night during the month, so I'm hoping that whatever they do, it fixes this issue.
Other than that I'm pretty happy with the service, and for the price it can't be beat. Since I'm already able to pull down 21mb down, I see no reason to pay $10 more a month for the plan that actually advertises that speed.
UPDATE!: It turns out my slow down problem was related to a lousy connector inside the wall plate. I replaced it with a compression connector a few days ago, and have not had the slow down problems anymore, and have a higher signal.
