Decent Speed, Price is OK bundled
Ports blocked, annoying for a house with two programmers

Value for money:

We picked up the 150/20 package because two of us being programmers in the house we were killing the 40/5 connection provided by CenturyLink (if they'd let me do 80/10 bonded I would have stayed with them, as my line wouldn't do 40Mbps upload bonded - but could sustain 15-20Mbps no problem)

So we had it installed and have discovered port 80 blocked, we have worked around it by using port 8080 but it's still annoying having to work around something that should just work considering the price we are paying, it's also annoying they do not have static IP on residential accounts (CenturyLink gladly sold us one), but we got around that by using DynDNS with a custom domain.

Usually, the speedtests usually show about ~190Mbps even during peak times/25Mbps upload due to the powerboost, so the speed is decent.

Overall if you're okay with blocked ports and tech support that does not know anything about how cable internet actually works Cox is a decent ISP.

Re: Cox business account

Did you not read the full review? They're only willing to offer 25/5 for $174 a month WITH a contract. I will just keep my $20 CenturyLink 40/5 connection for that purpose as stated in the review

Re: Cox business account

I pretty much stopped reading when I saw someone complaining about port 80 being blocked on a residential account. Of coursed it's blocked..

You would of known that if you read »www.cox.com/residential/ ··· 00000000

Re: Cox business account

Considering Cox is the only ISP i've had that does this it's annoying considering what they charge for the service.

I have swapped my old cat3 cable for cat5 inside and am now able to do 80/40 on a CenturyLink residential account, so they've won my business over Cox - and the nice thing is it's one third cheaper and more reliable (cox tends to have issues during peak times - not to mention their contour is garbage)
