We switched to Earthlink after having Time Warner Cable service for over 5 years. Time Warner out of the blue began charging us monthly lease fees for the same old modem they installed 5 years prior. Their customer service was terrible. Earthlink uses Time Warner's backbone and they were cheaper and don't charge a monthly modem lease fee. It seemed like a no brainer. Now when we need help with billing or service, we still have to deal with Time Warner and we have less reliable service. It seems that they must lease out IPs to Earthlink with the worst possible service. We are so sick of the monopoly Time Warner and Verizon have on our area.
