I have had mediacom for over 6 years three in KY and 3 here in Iowa. In KY I was located in a very rural area, far off the road with the lines in on poles, so it was not unusual to get brief internet interuptionns during heavy weather, but generally the interuptions were very brief and My actual speeds were generally 95-99% of advertised, I did have a connection problem initially when the service was installed because the contractor that did the install did not do any line testing a week later a Internet tech came out and did testing on the lines and found the problem immediately and replaced the line from the pole to the house. Only other problem In KY was when a lighting strike to a pole on the highway fried my modem and a office employ dropped off a new modem that evening and things were good.
I live in the Des Moines Metro here in Iowa and have no complaints about the service, except that the tech who installed my phone failed to tighten the cable connection and that caused a few problems with connection issues. They are currently working to resolve why my modem keeps rejecting the spped upgrade to 10/1 for VIP. In three years here I have had maybe 5 outages that were not either a quick down and up due to weather or middle of the night maintenance ( I work nights so am up all hours during days off so when they take down the connection for a maintenance at 2-3 am I am affected but I understand that that is a time were most customers are not affected. The 5 real outages have been weather related blackouts 4 times and the 5th time was a car vs pole a couple of blocks over.
I have digital TV pack family cable , High speed internet and phone service
