On October 15, 1999 I ordered 160K SDSL from Dave Frank at IBS for $99/mo. All I can say to anyone looking at this company is to divert NOW to www.cais.com and leave this *cough* dsl provider ALONE.

I have spent more time on the phone and writing emails, trying to inquire as to the status of my order than any 3 people at IBS or North Point have spent trying to get my line up. I will borrow a quote from another user - trying to get IBS, Northpoint, CTS, and Bell Atlantic to coordinate is like trying to get the three stooges to perform brain surgery.

So you place your order from IBS and your happy because you think you will have dsl soon, at a decent price with no contract. Low and behold 4 months later you still have no dsl, and noone can explain why. IBS points fingers at BA, CTS points fingers at NorthPoint, North Point points fingers at BA, BA who I might add is the ONLY company that has spent more than 5 minutes trying to rectify the situation knows the wiring to my apartment is bad and has told North Point several times they need to have a tech wire from my apt to the interface.

    The players are:

IBS Networks - I still fail to understand their part in this - they provide neither the bandwith nor the ip space for your dsl connection (provided by exodus.net), they don't do the inside wiring, they don't respond to your calls or emails. All I see IBS doing is collecting the fees every month and acting as some sort of intermediary between Northpoint and the customer.

Northpoint - A company which employs subcontractors to do the inside wiring. A company who leaves the subcontractor (CTS) on hold for > 1 and 1/2 hours, hanging up on them several times. A company which took 3 months to place my dsl order with BA. This company has obviously grown faster than expected and cannot support the large user base they are trying to establish.

CTS - Subcontractor for Northpoint. They walk in with a bag full of tools, yet cannot in 3 hours one day, and 1 hour another, figure out what BA has determined in Hi Tom:

You were suppose to email/phone me last week as to the status of your calling Northpoint. Once again words have been spoken and promises made that have not been followed through with. WHAT IS THE STATUS OF MY ORDER ALREADY?

    Dave/Debbie,

For the last few months I have been hearing nothing but "It's not us, were waiting on the teleco - Bell Atlantic to finish the loop". Well, according to the 2 Bell technicians who were out here 2 days ago, the loop is complete, and has tested sat. from my apartment interface to the CO. I also heard "As soon as Bell is done we can be out their the next day" in an
    email from Dave.

    -- snip --

I am available at the below listed telephone numbers at the corresponding
    days and times.

    -- snip --

I believe this is the 3rd such email in 2 days requesting to complete this ongoing saga. Bell has done their job....now how about we finish this up?

    Tired and frustrated,
